Hi Audrey

Sorry you are feeling so rough at the moment. I hope you get your meds sorted soon and they start to work for you. I have not suffered from that kind of problem with my legs but as Jenni says there is a recognised problem and even called 'restless legs syndrome'.

You really are going through it at the moment! It's good that your consultant is going to start you on some new medication, I hope it works well for you.

Hello Audrey

Sorry to hear that things not good at the moment. Hope things improve quickly

I get restless legs, and boy how horrid it is . It makes me bad tempered and angry
at myself. Not sure how to get rid of it though. I don't have it every night I get
it couple nights a week.

Hopefully someone can enlighten us

one treatment is to hold the leg down (gently) until it settles also, try getting a blood test to check your iron levels is a wise move...
some more info here:

Hope they settle.

Hi,

Restless leg syndrome is something I have suffered with for many years, but usually when I am overtired or in the hot weather.

I usually hold a cold flannel on them and also use cooling leg gel from the body shop.

Hi Audrey

Hope things improve for you soon and you get started on suitable medication soon.

I have had restless leg syndrome for donkeys years (what haven't I had??). I have it for a while and then it disappears for a while. Despite keeping a diary I haven't been able to relate it to anything much at all, unfortunately! Mine tends to start in the evening, about 20 minutes after I've sat down to watch TV, you know the feeling? Just when you've got comfortable! I find the best thing is gentle stretches to release the tight muscles. My GP prescribed amitriptylline which seemed to help ... until my body got used to them!! Apparently they're good for nerve pain.
